SILICONE 101
WHAT IS SILICONE ANYWAY?

Silicone is a man-made material created from the element, silicon. Silicon is the second most abundant element on earth and is found pretty much everywhere, nestled in rock and sand, a lot of times as quartz.

To take it from rock and sand to silicone, the quartz is super-heated, super-cooled, and then super-broken-down into tiny pieces, before it gets ground down and mixed with to make it into the stuff of super tough straws and more.
